Example Ballot for November 4 Election

This November, voters within North Lamar Independent School District will see Proposition A on their ballot. This is a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) that would allow the district to adopt an ad valorem tax rate of $0.7669 per $100 for maintenance & operations — a rate that exceeds the district’s compressed maximum rate.

If passed, Prop A would raise approximately 14.99% more revenue in maintenance and operations compared to last year, resulting in an additional $2,366,836 in funding.

On Election Day, November 4, voters in the North Lamar Independent School District will consider Proposition A, a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE).

The Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate would increase by $0.10.

The Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rate would decrease by $0.10.

As a result, the overall tax rate will remain at $0.9169 per $100 valuation*.

Although the M&O portion is increasing, the offsetting decrease in I&S means the total tax rate will not change. Approval of Prop A would provide the district with an estimated $2.3 million in additional state funding, supporting:

Competitive salaries for staff

Updated equipment for band, athletics, and Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs

Maintenance of safe, functioning facilities

Technology upgrades for student learning
