North Lamar Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees acts as the school district's policy-making body and is the official representative of the people for all public education in North Lamar Independent School District. The Board functions according to state and federal laws, the rules and regulations established by the State Board of Education, and the Texas Education Agency.

The seven members of the Board are elected at-large and serve three-year staggered terms without compensation. 

The Board of Trustees elects a president, vice-president, and secretary to serve one-year terms. It selects and employs the superintendent and delegates the responsibility and authority for the operation of the school district to the superintendent. The superintendent advises Board members on all matters concerning school management.

The Board of Trustees meets regularly on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Special meetings are called when necessary. All meetings are open to the public and are subject to provisions of Texas Law

 

 

About Our Board Members

 

Russell Jackson was elected in May of 2022, term expires May 2025. Russell was nominated in May 2024 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as President. Russell attended North Lamar from kindergarten at Aaron Parker Elementary through graduation at North Lamar High School. His wife, Cassie Edwards Jackson, attended North Lamar, and all four children; Kylie Jackson, Claire Jackson, Carter Jackson, and Kelsey Jackson, have all attended North Lamar for the entirety of their K-12 scholastic careers as well.  He is one of the owners of Pierson and Fendley Insurance Agency, and he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.  Russell has served North Lamar in the past as the founding president of the North Lamar High School Theatre Booster Club, as a volunteer on both the 2009 and 2021 successful bond elections, and as a member of site based committees.  He currently serves as the Finance Chairman of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and the Treasurer of the Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley.  His past service to the community includes serving as President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley, serving as a board member of the Rotary Club of Greater Paris, Leadership Lamar County, and Paris Young Professionals. He was a 2011 graduate of Leadership Lamar County and was honored with a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow for service to the community by his fellow Rotarians.

Sheila Daughtrey was elected in May of 2017, reelected in November of 2020, ran unapposed for a three year term May 2023, term expires May 2026. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce.  She is a retired teacher from North Lamar ISD where she taught for 33 years. Sheila was nominated in May 2021 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as Secretary. Sheila was nominated in May 2022 and May 2023 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as President.  Sheila was nominated in May 2024 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as Vice-President. 

Stephen “Red” Holmes was elected in May of 2014, reelected in May of 2017, reelected in November of 2020, ran unnapposed for a three year term May 2023, term expires May 2026. Red was nominated in 2017 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as President.  He is a graduate of Paris Junior College and retired from the Paris Police Department as a Detective Sergeant with 28 years of service to the community.  Stephen “Red” Holmes was nominated in May 2022 and May 2023 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as Vice-President.

Bo Exum was elected in May of 2019, was reelected in May 2022 and term expires May 2025. Bo was nominated in November 2020 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as Vice-President. Bo was nominated in May 2021 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as Vice-President. Bo was nominated in May 2022, May 2023 and May 2024 to serve North Lamar ISD Board as Secretary.  He is the owner of Exum Plumbing.

Clint Spencer was elected in May of 2021, term expires May 2024 and reelected in May 2024 with his term expiring in May 2027. Clint is a graduate of North Lamar High School, Harding University and attended dental school at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.  Dr. Clint Spencer is a dentist at Spencer & Kerby Comprehensive Dentistry.

Lauren Woodard was elected in May of 2022, term expires May 2025.  She is a graduate of NLISD and currently has two elementary school aged children in the district.  Lauren is the owner of local marketing company Southern Social Pro.

Joel Sanders was appointed to fill Jimmy Fendley’s position on August 1, 2022, ran unapposed for a one year term in May 2023, term expires May 2024. Mr. Sanders was reelected in May 2024 with his term expiring in May 2027.
