North Lamar SWEEPS Wills Point in football

Our North Lamar Panthers made a clean sweep of the Wills Point Tigers! We outscored the Tigers 124-15. Our boys played very well and it was a great week for the program!

The freshmen got things started with a 26-0 victory to improve our record to 3-2. We scored on every possession and held the Tigers to a single first down. Gavin Upchurch got the game started with a 64 yd touchdown run, followed by Jace Kennemer returning a punt all the way to the end zone. Dallas Foster and Hayden Leffel also scored touchdowns. Defensively we played very tough holding them to one first down. Kaden Allison led the defensive effort from the defensive line.

The JV team was next and routed Wills Point to the tune of 50-8 to remain undefeated with a 4-0-1 record! Defensively Cameron Widner was all over the field making plays. We forced two fumbles recovered by Jackson Hoskins and Braylon Minier, Brentin Jackson and James Golden both caught interceptions with Golden returning his for a touchdown. Offensively we had 5 (Dakota Benedict, Jackson Hoskins, Hayden Allen, Conner Brasseux, Jamadrik Franklin) different Panthers find the endzone! We had a plethora of big plays both runs and passes with our offense executing almost flawlessly. Our boys dominated from the opening kickoff to the very end.

Friday night your Panthers routed the Tigers 48-7 improving our record to 2-3! This was the largest margin of victory for us in over a decade! We rushed for 400 yds and threw for 72 yards scoring 6 TD’s offensively. Quay Mason led us in rush yards with 145 and 3 TD’s, Blake Hildreth rushed for 86 and 1 TD and was 4-4 throwing with another TD. Rhett Bestul rushed for a TD and Parker Pynes caught a TD! It was a great night offensively! Defensively Dawson Taylor showed out with 3 sacks from his nose guard position. He made the evening very tough on the opposing center. Corbin Liesman recovered a fumble caused by Cody Stevens and ran it in for a defensive touchdown! Lane Nelson and Blake Hildreth also caught interceptions rounding out our three turnovers! We held the Tigers to 197 yards of total offense and had 472 yards ourselves which means we dominated them on both sides of the ball! It was a great performance by our boys and it was a well-earned victory!
