Our Team

Athletic Trainer- Cole Barker

Cole is a graduate of the 2008 class from North Lamar. He is a proud life long Panther who is eager to help all of our athletes and coaches stay healthy and in the game.

In High School, Cole was involved in the student sports medicine program, on the golf team, and an officer of the FCA club. He went to college at Hardin-Simmons University where he recieved his bachelors in Athletic Training. Took his first job at West Texas A&M as a Graduate assitant athletic trainer for Soccer, Track, and Football. He recieved his Masters in Sports Management while working there. After working the college setting for a few years, Cole came back to Paris, Tx and worked with Xzact Threapy to open an outreach athletic training program throught the PT clinic. This outreach program still servers many schools today. In 2017 Cole came back to North Lamar as the full time Athletic Trainer with intentions of turning the program around and improving its facilities and student retention. The health care facility has many new advances in the last few years to where we can truely serve the athletes of North Lamar. 

 

Cole is married to Stephanie Barker and has 1 son, Carson. They love to travel and enjoy outside activties like fishing, hiking, and photography. 

2021-22 sports med team

NL High School Students have the unique ability to assist the Athletic Trainer and learn about basic Sports Medicine through a hands on learning expereince. This program is available to all High School students, but recommend starting as a sophomore. Students will help with daily activities including, but not limited to:

Team Hydration, stretching, taping injuries, first aid, Healthcare Facility cleaning, assiting with modalities such as Game Ready and Stim,  AHA CPR Certification, Observing injury evaluations, assisting with theraputic exercises, and filing paperwork.

This program is designed to help students have a hands on expereince and learn skills that will help them in any job enviroment in the future. This is an excellent start for any student looking to get into Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic/ EMT, Nursing, Physician, or Chiropratic school in the future.
