COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CAC)

The CAC completed their work on January 20, 2021.  The Committee’s recommended bond package was presented to the North Lamar ISD Board of Trustees, for consideration, at a Special Meeting on January 27, 2021.

Thank you CAC for your time, insight and work!!

In the fall of 2019, North Lamar ISD Board of Trustees approved the formation of a Community Advisory Committee to assess campus and facility needs, as well as develop a bond package – should the group determine one is needed.  Committee membership was solicited and indentified in November of 2019.

The committee of 33 members have a commitment to share and present information about the process and outcomes.  The committee decision-makers comprise of teachers, parents, business owners, senior citizens, partner institutions, professional and civic organizations, and other community members.

The committee has been working together along with Parkhill, Smith and Cooper, an architecture and engineering firm, and North Lamar’s administrative team to develop a plan that addresses facility, transportation, and technology needs for the district.  The goal of the Community Advisory Committee is to make the overall bond propositions reflective of the district’s needs.  The community survey results have been extremely beneficial during the committee’s planning process.

North Lamar is well aware that improving the quality of school facilities is an expensive undertaking.  However, when the positive impacts of facility improvement on teacher and students are translated into dollar figures, the rewards of such investments far outweigh the cost of the investments.
