             2007-2008 STONE M.S. BAND CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Friday, October 5 - band fund-raiser begins (all classes)

Monday, Oct. 22, and Tues., Oct. 23 - Beginning Class Recitals in Stone Band Hall  

                                                                 Individual classes:  6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 25 (tentative) - Honor Band plays at 8th grade A-game

Monday, October 29 – Fall Band Concert - 7:00 p.m. - H.S. auditorium - 7th and 8th grade bands perform

Wednesday, November 7   -  Band pictures made during classes (all bands) 

Saturday, November 17 - All-Region Band try-outs in Texarkana (7th & 8th grade band students )

Saturday, December 8 -  All-Region Band Clinic & Concert in Pleasant Grove, for those students who

                                          won places in the All-Region Band try-outs on Nov. 17

Tuesday, December 11   - M.S. Band Christmas Concert in NLHS auditorium 6:30 p.m. (beginners)

                                                                                                               7:30 p.m. (7th & 8th grade bands)

Friday, February 8 - Band Solo and Ensemble Contest  (for 7th & 8th graders)at Stone M.S. after school

February  13 - 16  - Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio (directors)                      

Tuesday, March 4    -   Percussion Concert  7:00 p.m. H.S. auditorium  (all percussion classes)

Thursday, March 27 (tentative)   - Pre-U.I.L. Invitational Contest  at  New Boston H.S.

            (Honor & Symphonic Bands)

Monday,  March 31 -  Pre-U.I.L. Concert for parents  7:00 p.m. in NLHS auditorium (Honor  & Sym. Bands)

Thurs., April 10, or Fri., April 11  -  U.I.L. Concert  &  Sight-Reading Contest at New Boston H.S.                                                                                                                                         (Honor and Symphonic Bands)

TBA   -  Honor Band Spring trip & festival performance  -   Dallas   (more specific details to follow)  

Thursday, May 8 -  Spring Concert  in H.S. auditorium  6:30 p.m. (beginners) 

                                                                                            7:30 p.m. (7th  & 8th grade Bands)

Week of May 19 - Beginners’ Solo and Ensemble Contest - (during band classes) 

This is a listing of the major M.S. Band activities for the 2007-2008 school year.  Please post this Calendar of Events in a prominent place in your home for reference throughout the school year and help your child make arrangements to attend.  We will send home updates as important events near or if any changes occur.  Please let us know as soon as possible if there are conflicts or if you have any questions.  The band hall phone number is 737-2043, ext. 2046.    We look forward to another busy and successful year in the Stone M.S. Friday, October 5  -  Band fund-raiser begins   (Participation in all fund-raising is optional, however this is

                                                                              an excellent way to build up money in the students’ accounts

                                                                              for future band activities and trips.  This account carries  

                                                                              over one year to the next as long as they are in band,

                                                                              including into high school.)

Monday, October 22, and Tuesday, October 23 -  Beginning Band Class Recitals (Stone Band Hall)

                                                                             Individual class performances  6:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

                                                                             Participation is required and graded.

Wednesday, November 7 -  Band pictures made during school  (all classes)

Tues.,  December  11  -  M. S. Band Christmas Concert  -  6:30 p.m.  (beginners)  in the H.S. auditorium
