North Lamar High School Library Policies

It is the goal of the library to provide adequate materials and an atmosphere where students may come to study and do research with the least interference possible. 

Hours:            Monday-Friday 7:30-3:45  (We will stay later if requested)

 Book checkout procedure:             In order to check out materials from the library, a student must show his North Lamar I.D. card.   I.D. cards are made in the library at a cost of $3.00 which pays for the materials.  If lost a replacement card will cost $3.00.

            Students are allowed to check out four books.  Each book has a two-week check out period.  A fine of $.05 daily, including weekends, will be given for late books.

            Students will not be able to check out materials if they have a fine, including a calculator fine.

            Fines will not be given on Class Set books.

Lost or Damaged Materials:

In the case that materials, (books, calculators) are damaged, destroyed or lost, it is the student’s responsibility to pay for the material they checked out.  The replacement cost of the book will be charged.  The average cost of a hardbound book is $19.58 and a paperback is $7.63 as of January 2004.  

Behavior:

Students are expected to behave in a respectful manner while in the library. Respecting the right of others to be able to work in a quiet, orderly atmosphere.  If a student is unable to control himself/herself, he/she will be asked to leave the library.  The librarian will follow the district’s discipline procedures.   No food or drink is allowed in the library.

Computers:

            Each student will be expected to comply with the technology agreement that was signed at the beginning of the school year.  They will not use e-mail, chat or play games in the library.  The computers will be used for school related work only.  Students will be expected to sign in on the computer log, with their name, the name of the teacher they are doing work for, the topic, date and time, before they use to a computer.   Students may use the computers before school- during activity period- lunch period and after school. Non-compliance to the technology agreement will result in the student's computer privilege being revoked.

     Passwords:  Students are expected to remember their password. If a student forgets his/her password, he/she may request a password re-set a maximum of
twice. A $2.00 fine will be charged for a 3rd re-set request.

 Copies:  Xerox copies for school related topics are $.10 a sheet.  Personal copies will be $.20 a sheet. Computer-printed documents for school related topics are $.10 a sheet
