Federal Student Aid
The following information will be helpful if you are the parent of a senior or if you have a connection to a senior student:

To apply for federal student aid for colleges or career schools and most state and institutional aid, students must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year of college attendance.  Financial aid offices use information from the FAFSA to determine if you are eligible for different types of aid, such as grants, loans and work-study.  It is important to complete a FAFSA even if you think you will not qualify.

The following will be needed to complete the FAFSA:
  • Social Security Number – student’s number and parent’s number
  • Driver’s License Number – student
  • Alien Registration Number – if student is not a United States citizen
  • 2008 Federal Tax Information
  • Records of Untaxed Income – (such as social security benefits, welfare benefits, veteran’s benefits)
  • Information on Savings, Investments, and Business and Farm Assets
  • 2008 W-2 Forms - and other records of money earned
  • 2008 Federal Income Tax Return – student and parent
  • Current Bank Statement – student and parent
  • Date of Birth – parents
Students SHOULD NOT bring any confidential information or financial records with them to class.
