June 23 - For the second year in a row, North Lamar HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) was first in the nation in Personal Care. Over 4,000 students participated in over 50 events related to healthcare. North Lamar HS student, Jacob Malone took first place in the Personal Care event. This is his first year to be in HOSA and compete.
May 22 - NL General Education Homebound Teacher Claire Anderson is named Region VIII Parent of the Gifted.
May 19 - NLHS Valedictorian Danielle Jones and Salutatorian Logan Healey prepare for Commencement exercises scheduled for 7p.m. Saturday, May 31, at R. L. Maddox Stadium.
May 19 - Two NL sophomores Taylor Harris and Kevin Porter are the youngest technicians in the nation to hold a Stihl certification. The two students and Instructor Billy Copeland have completed two of three levels in Stihl levels of certification.
May 18 - Four NL Panthers are named to the All-District 11-4A Baseball teams. First Team members are Infielder Colton Wade and Outfielder Chevis Springer, and Second Team members are Pitcher Canyon Conley and Infielder Cody Sellers.
May 16 - Seven NLHS students had their artwork place at the Junior and Senior Art Competition at the Plaza Gallery in Paris. The following students placed third in their categories: Hannah Riley - 2D Design, Bren Dollins - Drawing, and Jesse Berry Mixed Media. Receiving Honorable Mentions in the Painting category were: Seth Sansom, Heather Cannon, Courtney Dykes, and Elijah Rater.
May 15 - NLHS junior and Texas Beta Club Vice President Samuel Cosgrove is to campaign for National Beta Club vice president in June at the National Beta Club convention in Myrtle Beach, S.C
May 14 - Thirteen NL Pantherettes were named to the All-District 16-4A Soccer Teams. They are Rachel Edward - Offensive MVP; Erin McGregor - Midfield MVP; 1st Team All District - Devin Wright, Blake Scott, Brittany Womack, and Natasha Peel; 2nd Team All District - Callie Sugg, Casey Lewis, and Kaytlin Hadley; and Honorable Mention - Hannah Grider, Ellen Green, Kelsey Evans, and Brytnie Miller.
May 14 - Nine NLHS seniors received each $1,000 scholarships awarded by the Rotary Clubs of Paris. They are Michael Shauchunas, Britney Moore, Ryan LeFlore, Savanna Holman, Robyn Atkins, Danielle Weatherford, and Katelyn Bolyard, Jose Crosa, and Christopher Crouch.
May 12 - Four NLHS Panthers were named to the All-District 16-4A Soccer Teams. They are Cole DeVoss - Sophomore of the Year, Zach Johnson (Forward) and Steward Sisson (Midfield) - First Team, and Jose Ramirez - (Goalkeeper) Second Team.
May 11 - Results of the 2008 State Track Championships places NLHS Qualon Fort in 4th Place and Justin Collard in 5th Place.
May 8 - Ten NLHS senior athletes were presented scholarships during the annual sports banquet from the North Lamar Athletic Booster Club. The recipients are Robyn Atkins, Chelsea Steelman, Rachel Edwards, Devin Wright, Logan Anglin, Ali Stone Emily Fouse, Cole Barker, Kory Lawson, and Hannah Grider. Award Winners
May 6 - Twelve Pantherettes are named to the All-District 11-4A Softball Team. They are Most Valuable Players: Chelsea Steelman and Rayn House; Catcher of the Year: Kara Crawford; Defensive Player of the Year: Ashley Endsley; Newcomer of the Year: Cobi Barker; Coach of the Year: Kathy Barker; First Team: Kaci Crawford, Erin McGregor, Chelsie Shackelford; Second Team: Taylor Steelman and Ashley Fendley; Honorable Mention: Kassidy Moree and Rainey Smith. May 6 - NLHS sophomore Sarah Gandy compete at the Cup of Flanders in Belgium and placed 1st on double-mini trampoline in the individual competition then was selected to compete in the team finals for the USA for which they also placed 1st. She made finals on trampoline as well finishing 5th after finals, bringing her up to 2nd in the nation for points in the elite ranking system for trampoline.
May 5 - Two NL students placed at the State UIL Meet. Matthew Corley was named the 4A State Champion in Lincoln Douglas Debate and Katie Caraway placed 4th in Poetry Interpretation.
May 4 - NLHS senior Alex Fowzer is the recipient of the 2008 Scholarship for Success. Alex received $500 from Success Center for Learning.
May 2 - NLHS Concert and Symphonic Bands received straight ones at the Region IV UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest.
May 1 - Everett Principal Carey Malone has been named District 8 TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association.
May 1 - Three NLHS seniors Jake Whaley, Cassandra Wilson, and Rachael Garey, received $4,000 scholarships each from the Lamar County A&M Scholarships Foundation.
April 30 - Everett 3rd Graders received 100% on TAKS Reading.
April 30 - UIL Academic Teams Results are: One Act Play - Advanced to State, Accounting - 3rd Place Region, Currents Events - Advanced to Region, Literacy Criticism and Speech - 2nd Place District, and NLISD - 3rd Place District.
April 30 - UIL Academic Individual Results are: State Qualifiers - Jordan Sulsar, Jessica Martin, Katie Caraway, and Matthew Corley. Regional winners are Katie Caraway, Samuel Cosgrove, Devin Wright, Tawney King, Zack Smith, Anissa Dejoux, Russell Jahn, Jon-Michael Barnett, Cole Kelley, and Anna Winters. April 30 - Placing as the Lamar County Junior Livestock Show were Garrett Clark, Jayla Davis, Brandon Clark, Luke Chipman, Hannah Hodnett, Ethan Nicholson, Wesley Hines, Noah Chipman, Tyler Russell, Matthew Thrasher, Hailey Earnest, Molly Middleton, Alex Flautt, Zack Zant, Thomas Erwin, Ryan Tyler, Chris Penson, Tiffany McLeod, Caleb Michael, Gilly Flautt, Montana Parson, Blake Johnson, and Blake Hadley.
April 30 - Blue Ribbons come home with NLHS FFA Team from the Houston Project Show. Winners are Sam Hodnett, Quade Sherwood, Hamish Harley, Blake Hadley, Gilly Flautt, and the team project. Members of the team are Myles Russel, Chris Penson, Chase Lewis, Quade Sherwood, and Sam Hodnett.
April 30 - Five NLHS student were recognized at the Regional Science Fair: Davis White, Zachary Springer, Jackson Graves, Lacy White, and Kevin Crawford. Other regional participants were Zachary Anthony, Will Harrington, Tyler Bussell, Aaron Mustin, Morgan Beckman, Cameron Smith, and Cody Daniel.
April 30 - NLHS Resource Science Teacher Sandra Patterson is a finalist for the Texas ATPE Educator of the Year Award
April 30 - Stone Middle School Honor and Symphonic Bands earn 23rd consecutive Sweepstakes Award at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest.
April 30 - Stone Middle School Treble Choir received Sweepstakes Award at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest.
April 30 - NLHS UIL One Act Play, Shakespeare in Hollywood advanced to Area competition.
April 30 - Three NLHS students are State winners in Future Business Leaders of America. They are Anissa DeJoux, Tawney King, Russell Jahn, and Zachary Smith.
April 30 - NLHS Prom King and Queen are Logan Healey and Katie Caraway.
April 28 - NLHS sophomore Sarah Gandy won a Gold Medal in U.S. Double-Mini Trampoline and qualified for the U.S. Championships.
April 27 - Two NL seniors Qualon Fort and Justin Collard received the Gold and Silver medals, respectively, and advanced to the State Meet.
April 27 - NL senior Jordan Rhoads accepts a $1,000 grant from Wal-Mart.
April 24 - NL sophomore Sarah Gandy won the gold on the Double-Mini Trampoline at the Elite Challenge in Mobile Al and will travel to Belgium to compete in the Flanders Cup this week.
April 23 - Four NLHS students are UIL State Qualifiers: Jordan Sulsar - Prose Interpretation, Jessica Martin - Computer Applications, Katie Caraway - Poetry Interpretation, and Matt Corley - Lincoln-Douglas Debate. They will compete in Austin on May 1, 2, and 3.
April 22 - Four NLHS Panthers named to the All-Red River Valley Boys Basketball Team: First Team - Justin Collard and Qualon Fort, Second Team - Patrick Thomas, and Honorable Mention - Hawk Hawkins
April 21 - 78 NLHS seniors were recognized for following the Texas Scholars graduation plan.
April 18 - NL Pantherettes completed their softball season with an undefeated District 11-4A record. This record made the fourth undefeated NL Pantherette team this school year. The Pantherette volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball teams went a combined 39-0-1 during the 2007-2008 school year.
April 18 - Stone Middle School student Reed Scudder was selected as Hibbett Sports Superstar. Reed was chosen for his all-around positive character, academic achievement, as well as his success as an athlete. In honor of Reed’s accomplishments, Hibbett Sports and Under Armour will donate $1000 to the North Lamar Education Foundation.
April 18 - The Texas State Teachers Association honored NLHS teacher Joyce Coulter with its Willie Velásquez Memorial Award and Gary Hilliard, president of the North Lamar ISD Board of Trustees, with a Professional, Human and Civil Rights Special Award. "Joyce Coulter is a dedicated advocate of cultural diversity in the North Lamar Independent School District. She is devoted to providing students with an awareness of cultural diversity and is an active proponent of multicultural programs,” TSTA President Donna New Haschke said in presenting the award to Coulter. “Gary Hilliard is the kind of generous, dedicated, teacher-friendly school trustee and board president every district in Texas should have,” Haschke said.
April 15 - Five NLHS Pantherettes named to the All-Red River Valley Girls Basketball Team: Most Valuable Player - Emily Fouse, First Team - Logan Anglin, and Ali Stone, and Second Team - Ashley Endsley and Chelsie Shackleford.
April 14 - Two NLHS students Courtney Ballard and Jacob Malone placed at State HOSA Competition in Personal Care and advance to the National HOSA Competition in June. Hemali Patel attended the officer training as our area HOSA secretary.
April 13 - NL seniors were awarded scholarships. Amanda Cooper was awarded the Moersen Nursing Scholarship, Stephanie Brown was awarded the Lamar Electric Cooperative Scholarship, and Danielle Jones and Logan Healey were awarded the scholarships from the Paris Texas Exes.
April 10 - NL senior Ali Stone was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Academic All-State Teams.
April 10 - North Lamar qualified for the regional track meet in seven events.
April 9 - NL Pantherettes clinched the District 11-4A Softball Championship.
April 8 - NLHS student Jay Cox qualified for Regional Golf Tournament and the NLHS 'B' golf team took 4th Place at district.
April 8 - NL Pantherette Blue golf team qualified for the Regional Tournament. Team members are Skii White, Jerricka Springer, Courtney Dykes, Becky Golden, and Brittany Viehe.
April 7 - Stone Middle School student Jenna Gifford is selected as Miss Teen Paris 2008. Jenna received her crown from out-going Miss Teen Paris Chloe Troutt, a NLHS student.
March 26 - NL Pantherette Soccer team named District 16-4A Champions ended their season in the Area round of the playoffs to Highland Park.
March 21 - NLHS sophomore Shannon Strotheide was selected as a winner of the 2008 Youth Tour trip to Washington, DC sponsored by Lamar Electric Cooperative. Shannon will meet her congressman and visit many historical sites and government buildings.
March 14 - North Lamar Pantherettes claim District 16-4A Soccer title. This is their eighth straight season to play post-district, but the first time to win the district title.
March 6 - Six NL Pantherettes named to All-District 11-4A Girls Basketball Team. Sharing the Most Valuable Player Honor is Logan Anglin, Emily Fouse, and Ali Stone. Named to the First Team are Ashley Endsley and Chelsie Shackelford and Second Team is Chloe Troutt.
March 3 - Four NLHS students are named to the District 11-4A Basketball team. First team members are seniors Justin Collard and Qualon Fort, second team is Patrick Thomas, and Hawk Hawkins earned an honorable mention.
February 17 - NLHS senior Jordan McLamore was selected as Good Citizen by the Joseph Ligon Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
February 17 - NL Pantherette Basketball team finished undefeated in District 11-4A winning a total of 28 games.
February 10 - NLHS FFA member Noah Chipman won Ft. Worth Stock Show Calf Scramble. Noah was one of eight students who received a $500 purchase certificate that will help buy a registered beef or dairy heifer for a FFA project. Noah must care for his animal throughout the year and return for the 2009 show to exhibit his animal.
February 6 - Pantherettes earn the District 11-4A Basketball title with an unblemished record of 10-0. This makes the NL Pantherettes third district title in the last four seasons.
February 4 - Skills USA District 5 Auto Service Technology Contest results: Robert Allard - 2hd Place and Casey Moore - 3rd Place. Sponsor Jim Hyatt
February 4 - The Area 3 HOSA Spring Leadership conference was held in Dallas at Townview HS. Over 600 HOSA students attended the conference. North Lamar brought home the following wins: Ben Williams - 5th Place Sports Medicine; Courtney Ballard - 2nd Place Personal Care; and Jacob Malone - 1st Place Personal Care. Hemali Patel was elected to serve as the Area 3 HOSA Secretary for the next year. This is the first time NLHS has had a HOSA officer elected. All 1-3rd advance to State HOSA which will be in April. January 14 - For the 4th time in 6 years, the North Lamar Beta Club has brought home a State Officer. Samuel Cosgrove is the newly installed Texas Vice-President. The next stop is the National Convention in Myrtle Beach, SC in June. Sponsor Patti Haley
January 10 - NLHS senior Cassandra Wilson was named to the Texas All-State Women's Choir. Cassandra also earned 1st Chair honors at region band competition. Choir Director Rebecca Hildreth
January 10 - The Spurs, a group of sixth grade students attending Stone Middle School, have been featured at several local performance. Students are Cory Compton, Benjamin Drake, Carson Rast, Wesley Hines, Holland Russell, Kelsie Allen, Stephanie Brewer, and Hannah Igleheart.

December 23 - NLHS students named to the All-Region Treble Choir are Heather Parson, Brittany Money, Jessica Spangler, Meghan Pearce, Anne Stankus, Bridget Jeans, Heather Cannon, Carolyn Ball, Cassandra Wilson, and Josh Monneyham. Cassandra and Josh will audition for Texas All-State Choir.
December 23 - NLHS student Carley Conley collected and donated 162 books to the Children's Advocacy Center as a community service project for her speech class.
December 23 - NL seventh grader Reed Scudder was selected as a Hibbett Superstar and will be featured in the March issue of the Hibbett Direct Mail Catalog. Reed named the NL Education Foundation as his charity to receive $1,000.
December 21 - Twenty-four NLHS band students qualify for Area and will compete for state band honors.
December 20 - NLHS students named All-Region Band - six students in Percussion, 20 students in Brass, and 26 students in Woodwind.

November 25 - NL student Sarah Gandy earned a Bronze Medal for the US in the recent World Age Games in Quebec City, Canada.
November 20 - NLHS band won 1st Division at the UIL Region 4 Marching Contest that qualified them for the UIl Area competition, and there they qualified for the finals.
November 19 - NLHS student Charles Bush is 1st Chair Percussionist in the Regional Orchestra and Qualified for Area Orchestra.

October 31 - NL 7th, 8th, 9th, JV, and Varsity Volleyball teams are District Champions.
October 24 - NL School Board Trustee Dave Osborne received the 4-H District IV Gold Star Outstanding Leader Award.
October 23 - NL Pantherette Cross Country team finished 2nd Place in District and qualified for the Class 4-A Region 2 Cross Country Meet. JV girls had the top two individuals in their class, Stephanie Hodges and Tayla Tongson. The NL boys team took 5th Place.
October 22 - NLEF fundraiser nets $47,000 for scholarships.
October 21 - Panthers won the Crosstown Showdown game by beating the Wildcats 16-7.

October 16 - NLHS Band received a Superior Rating, #1 at the UIL Marching Contest. They move on to Area competition this weekend in Mesquite.

October 1 - Six NLHS students earned the designation of Advance Placement Scholars by the College Board. Madeline Cosgrove qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. Matthew Corley, Joel Dishman, and Luke Irwin qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award. The AP Scholars are Nicole Allee, Emily Elsberg, Logan Healey, Danielle Jones, Stephen Smith, and Noah Stewart.
October 1 - Two NLHS students, Matthew Corley and Josh Mooneyham named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
September 30 - Panthers upend Tigers 43-22 on homecoming night.
September 30 - Darkius Blacksher and Hannah Grider were crowned the 2007 North Lamar Homecoming King and Queen.
September 24 - North Lamar High School Drumline wins first place in their division at drumline competition at Noyes Stadium.
September 14 - NLEF gets ready for scholarship fundraiser set for 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20 at Love Civic Center.
September 3 - Carey Malone, principal at Everett Elementary is the new District VIII president for Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).
August 22 - North Lamar Track and Cross Country Runner Lindsay Thompson signs a four-year scholarship with Midland Lutheran University in Fremont, Nebraska.
August 14 - North Lamar ISD approved budget ($24,329,878) with proposed tax rate ($1.16816).
August 13 - North Lamar Quarterback John Faulkner signs a four-year football scholarship with Midland Lutheran University in Fremont, Nebraska.
August 1 - The Texas Education Agency released ratings for all Texas school districts and schools. North Lamar ISD’s six regular campuses received recognized or acceptable ratings. No North Lamar ISD schools were rated academically unacceptable. North Lamar ISD ratings and informative links follow.
